Emergency dispatchers received a call from a woman in New Port Richey. The woman's voice reportedly pleaded, asking not to be killed. Dispatchers were not able to make anything else out.
Therefore, they traced the phone call and detected the cellular phone's location. Three New Port Richey police officers arrived at a cluster of apartments. They showed up on the scene around midnight on Thursday August 29. The officers went in with stealth tactics.
They crept down hallways and paused at each door. Police were listening for the voice that they had heard on the phone. Eventually they came to apartment 201 on Main Street. They heard a woman's cries coming from inside.
Police burst into the apartment, and found a bald man with a crooked smile looming over a crumpled and bleeding female. She was on the floor. Police described him as having a goatee. Police reports later sorted out what had happened.
She had been seeing Kraig Constantino, age 43, for several months. Apparently she went to work on Thursday across from his Main Street apartment. At around 2:00 PM a shipment was delivered by an adult black male that she recognized. She was showing him a photograph of her dogs when Constantino walked in.
He used a racial slur and admonished her for being near a black man. He then left, and proceeded to send her calls and texts of a threatening nature. She got home and found her home pillaged. Some things on the stove had been burned and her .38 caliber revolver was stolen.
As she feared that Constantino would hurt himself, she visited his apartment. She was then abducted and beaten. He pistol-whipped her and strangled her. She was, however, able to make three 911 calls. After being rescued, she told police her side of the entire story.
Constantino was charged with kidnaping and attempted murder. He is being held without bail. He has gotten into trouble many times over the last 20 years, and often represents himself in court. He was done many strange things when representing himself, and has filled entire files full of handwritten notes.
