Authorities have started to look into the discovery of a New Port Richey man's body. He was found dead on Monday September 16. What makes the case particularly concerning for investigators is where he was found.
Reports went out to the Coast Guard that a particular boat was overdue to port. As a result, a search was started in order to find the boat. At 4:30 AM officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission finally found it. It was anchored in the Gulf of Mexico.
Reports show that the boat was found somewhere near Durney Key. When they looked it over, they discovered the body of a man onboard. He was identified as Craig Carmichael from New Port Richey. Investigators believe that he was 48 years old when he died.
Police officers are suggesting that foul play is not being suspected at the current time. Nevertheless, the case is still under investigation. That means that it could go in a few different directions.
No medical examiner has released a definite cause of death. On one hand it could be that the individual in question died as a result of some unfortunate accident. However, should the medical examiner suggest otherwise the plot could thicken to use an often worn out phrase.
Police would then classify this as some sort of murder investigation and therefore take a second look at it. If that were the case, some of the stuff collected from the boat could be used as evidence. Naturally they would also have to go back and take a second look.
When police officers overlooked things previously they often have to go back later. While in many cases this can take quite a long time, in this case officers could do so quite quickly. That makes things slightly more positive when one considers the real gravity of a situation like this one. No matter what happened, the death of a human being is never to be taken lightly at all in any circumstances.
